Srinagar, April 5, 2025 – Minister for Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, conducted a comprehensive review of Gujjar and Bakerwal hostels across the Kashmir division , emphasising the need for holistic student development and robust infrastructure to support tribal communities. The meeting, held in Srinagar, focused on ensuring that these hostels provide an environment conducive to academic excellence and personal growth for their students. He directed the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, and the Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, to swiftly resolve all land acquisition issues hindering infrastructure projects, urging them to fast-track completion to benefit students. He stressed that timely execution of these projects is critical to providing modern facilities and improving the quality of education and living conditions in the hostels. “Our goal is to create spaces where tribal students can thrive academically and personally,” Rana said during the review.
