Srinagar, October 11, 2026- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday extended warm greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion of Navratri, wishing happiness, good health and prosperity to every family. In his message, the Lieutenant Governor conveyed his best wishes to all on the sacred festival and prayed that the blessings of Goddess Durga bring peace, happiness and prosperity to everyone.

A Message of Peace and Prosperity

Greeting the people of Jammu and Kashmir, the Lieutenant Governor wished that the nine days of Navratri bring joy to every household. He prayed that the blessings of Goddess Durga fill homes with harmony, good health and well-being, and that the festival inspires people to move ahead with hope and positivity.

Such messages from the administration’s top office are traditionally seen as a gesture of goodwill, reflecting the spirit of togetherness that marks festivals across the Union Territory.

Significance of Navratri

Navratri, which means “nine nights”, is dedicated to the nine forms of Goddess Durga. Over nine days, devotees observe fasts, recite hymns, perform special rituals and visit temples to seek strength, wisdom and protection for their families. The festival symbolises the triumph of good over evil and the victory of righteousness.

Each day of Navratri is devoted to a different form of the Goddess, and the festival is celebrated with devotion, prayers and community gatherings across the country.

Festive Spirit Across Jammu and Kashmir

In Jammu and Kashmir, Navratri holds special importance for devotees. Temples and shrines, including the holy shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi in Katra, are decorated with lights and flowers, and devotees travel from different parts of the region and the country to offer prayers.

Morning and evening aartis, bhajan sessions and religious gatherings add to the festive atmosphere. Families come together to observe rituals, prepare offerings and share the joy of the occasion with neighbours and friends.

Unity and Harmony

Festivals in the Union Territory are often celebrated in an atmosphere of mutual respect and brotherhood, with people from different communities joining in the spirit of the occasion. Navratri greetings from leaders carry a message of unity, reminding people of shared values such as compassion, peace and goodwill.

The festival also encourages reflection, discipline and gratitude. Many devotees see the nine days as a time of spiritual renewal, when prayer and self-restraint help them reconnect with faith and family.

Wishes for Every Family

By extending his wishes to every family, the Lieutenant Governor underlined the hope that the festival brings happiness and positive energy to all sections of society. His prayer for peace and prosperity echoed the sentiments shared by devotees as they begin the nine days of worship.

As Navratri begins, people across Jammu and Kashmir are expected to take part in prayers and celebrations with devotion and enthusiasm. The festival is a reminder of faith, hope and the enduring power of goodness.
