Srinagar, September 04, 2025 – Commissioner Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department (HUDD), Mandeep Kaur, conducted an extensive tour of flood-affected areas in Zoonipora Pulwama, Tengan Budgam, and peripheral areas of Srinagar to evaluate the ongoing flood situation caused by rising water levels in the Jhelum River and its tributaries.Accompanied by Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Faz Lul Haseeb, and other senior officials, Kaur reviewed water levels at critical locations and engaged with landowners whose properties were inundated due to a riverbank breach. She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing all necessary support and assured continuous monitoring to ensure public safety.
During the visit, Commissioner SMC briefed Kaur on the measures implemented by the Corporation, including the deployment of men and machinery at vulnerable points to address waterlogging. The Commissioner Secretary emphasized the importance of timely information dissemination and a swift response mechanismto prevent loss of life and property.Late last night, Kaur visited the Flood Monitoring Centre at Ram Munshi Bagh, where she reviewed preparedness measures in response to the rising Jhelum water levels. She was briefed on water level readings at Ram Munshi Bagh and other critical locations along the river.
