Locally grown mushrooms getting sold off quickly at Jammu sabzi mandi

The wholesale vegetable mandi in Jammu starts from 3am and goes on till 10am. All the local vegetables of Jammu are available here. This is a 30-year-old mandi being organised at the same place at a roadside because of which traffic increases. The wholesalers are in talks with the government to shift the mandi to a permanent place. All kinds of ‘saag’ and leafy vegetables are available in the mandi. Radishes and carrots are being sold at Rs 5-6 per kilo. Cauliflower and cabbage are being sold at Rs 10-12 per kg. The rates are reasonable at the mandi, say vegetable wholesalers and so people come to them. Locals in Jammu said they come here everyday to buy fresh vegetables at low rates. Mushrooms grown locally are available in the wholesale market all twelve months of the year. The daily sales is around 3,000 to 4,000 packets. Another variety, Tingri mushrooms are available here, a speciality of Jammu.
