Kashmir Ahead

LG Sinha to filmmakers: Capture the new Jammu & Kashmir on camera

Srinagar, 13 November 2025: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has called upon filmmakers from across India to highlight Jammu and Kashmir’s remarkable transformation since 2019, urging them to use cinema as a medium to showcase the region’s peace, progress, and cultural resurgence.

Speaking at an interaction with members of the film fraternity, the LG said that Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed unprecedented growth in infrastructure, tourism, and investment over the past few years. He invited filmmakers to explore the Union Territory’s scenic landscapes and vibrant cultural heritage as ideal backdrops for storytelling.

“Post-2019, Jammu and Kashmir has entered a new era of development and opportunities. The world needs to see this new chapter of peace, progress, and empowerment through the lens of cinema,” LG Sinha remarked.

He also highlighted the success of the J&K Film Policy 2021, which offers single-window clearances, subsidies, and logistical support to production houses. The policy has attracted numerous national and regional film projects to the Valley, rejuvenating local talent and creating job opportunities in the film and tourism sectors.

Several filmmakers present at the event appreciated the administration’s efforts to make Jammu and Kashmir a film-friendly destination, calling it a region that “offers both cinematic beauty and inspiring real-life stories.”

The LG reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting film tourism as a driver of economic growth and cultural exchange, emphasising that the medium of cinema can powerfully narrate J&K’s evolving story to the world.
