Kashmir Ahead

LG Manoj Sinha’s ‘Nasha Mukt JK’ campaign emerges as strong public movement against drug abuse

Srinagar, May 24, 2026- Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s ‘Nasha Mukt JK’ campaign has emerged as a major leadership-driven initiative aimed at combating the growing drug menace in the Union Territory.

The campaign has demonstrated how a focused and determined intervention from the leadership can rapidly mobilise the administration, generate large-scale public participation, and push institutions to confront the issue of substance abuse more seriously.

Under the ‘Nasha Mukt JK’ initiative, multiple awareness drives, anti-drug rallies, counselling programmes, and rehabilitation efforts have been organised across Jammu and Kashmir with active involvement of police, civil society groups, educational institutions, and youth organisations.

Officials said the campaign is not only targeting drug peddlers and narco networks through strict enforcement but is also focusing on prevention, awareness, and rehabilitation of affected youth. The administration has repeatedly stressed the importance of community participation in making Jammu and Kashmir drug-free.

LG Manoj Sinha has on several occasions highlighted that protecting the younger generation from drugs is a collective responsibility and called upon citizens, parents, teachers, and religious leaders to actively support the movement.

The campaign has gained significant momentum across districts with increasing public outreach programmes and participation of students, NCC cadets, social activists, and security agencies.

Authorities believe the sustained anti-drug campaign is helping create awareness among youth while strengthening efforts to dismantle narco-terror networks operating in the region.
