Srinagar, September 17,2026- Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday was marked with special celebrations across Jammu & Kashmir , with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha joining children undergoing treatment at a Srinagar hospital as part of the nationwide observance.
Speaking on the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor said that the Prime Minister’s birthday is being celebrated across the country through a series of programmes planned for an entire month. He noted that the administration in Jammu & Kashmir chose to spend the day with children receiving medical care, highlighting a spirit of service and compassion.
“The Prime Minister’s birthday is being celebrated across the country from today. The government has released a detailed programme for an entire month. Today, we decided to celebrate the Prime Minister’s birthday here with the sick children,” Manoj Sinha said.
The Lieutenant Governor appreciated the efforts of the medical fraternity and officials involved in organizing the event. He said the initiative was made possible through the cooperation of the Principal of the Medical College, the Medical Superintendent, the Health Secretary and other officials associated with healthcare institutions.
During the programme, children admitted to the hospital interacted with dignitaries and received gifts and well wishes. The event was aimed at bringing joy and encouragement to young patients and their families while drawing attention to the importance of healthcare and social responsibility.
Highlighting India’s economic progress over the past decade, the Lieutenant Governor said the country has witnessed significant transformation under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. He remarked that India, which was once grouped among the so-called “Fragile Five” economies, has emerged as one of the world’s leading economies.
“It is a matter of pride for the country that a nation which was once known as a Fragile Five economy has, through the Prime Minister’s efforts over the past 10-11 years, become one of the Top Five economies,” Sinha said.
He stated that India’s rise on the global stage has been accompanied by advancements in infrastructure, technology, innovation and public welfare. According to him, several government initiatives have contributed to expanding opportunities for citizens while strengthening the country’s economic foundations.
The Lieutenant Governor also referred to the Prime Minister’s emphasis on inclusive development, saying that welfare schemes aimed at the poor, women, farmers, youth and marginalized sections have brought positive changes to millions of lives across the country. He noted that many of these programmes have also benefited people in Jammu & Kashmir through improved access to healthcare, housing, sanitation, education and financial inclusion.
The birthday celebrations formed part of a broader series of events being organized nationwide. Various social, cultural and public welfare activities have been planned to mark the occasion, with institutions and organizations participating in programmes focused on community service and public outreach.
