Kashmir October 19, 2025 – Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha concluded a significant week-long visit to Elista, Republic of Kalmykia, Russia, leading an Indian delegation that showcased the holy relics of Lord Buddha, recognized as a National Treasure of India. The exposition, held from October 11-18, 2025, was organized by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, in collaboration with the International Buddhist Confederation (IBC), the National Museum, and the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA). The event aimed to strengthen people-to-people ties and celebrate the shared Buddhist heritage between India and Russia.Speaking at a ceremony at the Central Temple, known as “the Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni,” Lieutenant Governor Sinha addressed revered monks and devotees, emphasizing the enduring spiritual impact of the exposition. “The holy relics will return to India, but Lord Buddha’s presence in Kalmykia will continue to guide seekers toward awakening,” he said. He described the week as “historic and filled with blessings,” noting that the exposition deepened spiritual connections and brought joy and fulfillment to devotees and the people of Kalmykia.Lieutenant Governor Sinha called for building a compassionate, just, and equitable world rooted in the teachings of Lord Buddha. “We must build a world full of kindness, rooted in wisdom, and free from suffering. We must create an awakened and peaceful world where people care for others and support the well-being of all,” he urged. He emphasized the need for a just world that upholds moral integrity, equality, and fairness, free from discrimination and biases, and in harmony with nature. “Buddha’s teachings provide humanity a roadmap in this direction,” he added.Highlighting the importance of cultural and spiritual exchange between India and Russia, Sinha noted, “This exchange is a priority, based on our shared belief in peace, spiritual ethos, and compassionate living.” He underscored the relevance of Buddha’s message in today’s fast-paced world, stating, “His teachings on compassion, non-violence, and a pure mind can bridge divides and foster universal brotherhood.”
The Lieutenant Governor also reflected on the profound spiritual legacy of India, the land of Lord Buddha. “Spiritual salvation is the greatest treasure for humanity. Buddha taught us that spiritual experience must be existential, not borrowed. Life is a search for truth without desire. Be a Light unto Yourself—look within, as the light and pure awareness reside within you,” he said, urging seekers to follow Buddha’s path of self-discovery.The exposition of the holy relics, a symbol of India’s rich Buddhist heritage, fostered goodwill, trust, and spiritual energy, reinforcing the deep cultural ties between India and Russia.
