Srinagar, February 9,2026-Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday reaffirmed the administration’s firm commitment to building a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir, stressing that sports play a vital role in channelising youth energy towards positive and constructive pursuits.
Inaugurating the J&K Police Martyrs Hockey Tournament, which resumed after a gap of 10 years, LG Manoj Sinha said the tournament itself stands as a declaration of collective resolve against drug abuse and social challenges. He emphasised that the government is committed to holding the hands of the youth, creating brighter opportunities, and building a society where talent finds platforms, young energy gets direction, and dreams are supported with resources.
“We reaffirm our vow for a drug-free J&K. Through such initiatives, we aim to empower our youth, provide them opportunities to excel, and ensure that their potential contributes to nation-building,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
Paying glowing tributes to the martyrs of J&K Police, LG Manoj Sinha highlighted the force’s unbreakable resolve, courage and supreme sacrifices in safeguarding peace and unity. He said the revival of the tournament after a decade sends a strong message to the nation that adversity will not weaken the spirit of Jammu and Kashmir.
“The courage and determination of J&K Police inspire us all. No challenge can crack our resolve. We will cross every barrier and achieve new milestones as we move forward,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor noted that the J&K Police Martyrs Hockey Tournament is not only a sporting event but also a platform for social change, youth engagement and community bonding. The tournament is expected to promote hockey, strengthen sports culture in the Union Territory and reinforce the fight against drug abuse.
Players, officials and sports enthusiasts welcomed the revival of the tournament, calling it a fitting tribute to police martyrs and a meaningful step towards nurturing youth talent in Jammu and Kashmir.
