Jammu, January 28, 2026:Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, on Tuesday interacted with Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) Officer Trainees at Lok Bhavan, Jammu, and shared his vision for a technology-driven, efficient, and future-ready Indian Railways.
During the interactive session, the Lieutenant Governor exhorted the young officers to focus on developing tech-inspired railway infrastructure aligned with the goal of building a Developed India.
“Indian Railways transcends tracks and infrastructure; it pulses as the very circulatory system of India’s aspirations. This vast network drives economic expansion, weaves social cohesion, and binds our nation as one,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
Highlighting the unmatched reach of the national transporter, he added, “From formidable mountain heights to remote rural habitations, Indian Railways threads together industry and marketplace while energizing the everyday lives of millions.”
The Lieutenant Governor emphasized the need to harness the vast wealth of operational, passenger, and freight data through scientific analysis to transform service delivery. He said that a technology and intelligence-driven approach would sharpen demand forecasting, optimize resource allocation, reduce accident risks, and strengthen railway infrastructure.
“Smart technology holds the key to reimagining Indian Railways as a sleek, passenger-first mobility powerhouse for the 21st century,” he remarked.
Speaking on the growing demand for logistics, Shri Manoj Sinha noted that India’s expanding economy and urbanization require Indian Railways to become swifter, safer, and more dependable, with a strong focus on enhanced operations and optimal use of resources.
The Lieutenant Governor also underlined the critical role of reforms and technology in the freight sector. He said that dedicated freight corridors, modern logistics terminals, and integrated digital platforms could make freight transport faster, more economical, and globally competitive.
“This will reduce logistics costs for industries and provide a strong impetus to the Indian economy,” he added.
Highlighting future priorities, the Lieutenant Governor said that developing a multimodal logistics network by integrating rail with road and other modes of transport is essential to meet emerging national needs.
Encouraging the Officer Trainees, who are visiting Jammu and Kashmir as part of Bharat Darshan, the Lieutenant Governor urged them to keep national interest paramount.
“Every file, every decision, and every order you make must have the ultimate objective of serving the nation and building a developed India,” he said.

Bhandari, Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor; Course Directors Shri Rahul, Professor (Traffic Planning & Costing), and Shri Pranjalya Parth Lathe, Professor (Logistics & Supply Chain Management), Indian Railways Institute of Transport Management, along with other senior officials.
