Jammu, November 4,2025: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha today inaugurated the annual Jhiri Mela at Marh Sub-Division in Jammu, paying rich tributes to Baba Jitto and Bua Kauri, revered icons of selflessness and farmers’ dignity. The Jhiri Mela, one of Jammu’s oldest spiritual and cultural fairs, draws thousands of devotees each year to honour the legacy of Baba Jitto — a symbol of truth, justice, and sacrifice.
On the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor dedicated a newly constructed pilgrim community hall and four modular bus stops to the public. He also laid the foundation stone for the first Indoor Sports Complex at Marh, to be developed under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), marking a major step toward strengthening the region’s sports and youth infrastructure.
Addressing the gathering, LG Manoj Sinha called upon the people to take inspiration from the teachings of Baba Jitto and embrace the path of selfless service, equality, and social justice.
“Let us pledge to work collectively for a just, strong, secure, and self-reliant Jammu and Kashmir. The ideals of Baba Jitto and Bua Kauri guide us toward building a compassionate and prosperous society,” the LG said.
The LG commended the efforts of the district administration and local committees for ensuring smooth arrangements for the annual Mela, which continues to serve as a celebration of faith, unity, and cultural heritage.
The newly inaugurated pilgrim community hall will provide essential facilities to devotees during the Mela, while the modular bus stops will improve connectivity and convenience for visitors. The upcoming Indoor Sports Complex aims to nurture sporting talent in rural areas and promote youth engagement through sports.
Highlighting the administration’s focus on inclusive development and cultural preservation, LG Sinha reiterated that such initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to empowering communities, enhancing pilgrimage infrastructure, and promoting the rich cultural fabric of Jammu and Kashmir.
