Jammu & Kashmir LG Shri Manoj Sinha delivered a keynote address at the Jammu & Kashmir Textile Sourcing Fair-2024, underscoring the immense opportunities for growth in the region’s textile industry. Delivered via virtual mode, he emphasized the expanding market access and export potential for J&K’s artisans and manufacturers, marking the event as a pivotal moment for the region’s economic development. In his address, the LG lauded Jammu & Kashmir’s rich and diverse textile heritage, noting the impressive progress made by the sector over the past 50 months. “The textile sector in J&K is witnessing a remarkable resurgence. Our deep-rooted cultural traditions and artisanal expertise are now globally competitive, and our artisans continue to demonstrate unparalleled creativity and excellence,” said the LG, highlighting the sector’s growth trajectory. He attributed much of this progress to the concerted efforts of the government in implementing reform-oriented policies and providing robust support to local artisans and entrepreneurs. He reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to further boosting the textile industry through a combination of infrastructural development, financial aid, and skill training programs. He pointed out that the Textile Sourcing Fair plays a critical role in enhancing the visibility of local products and forging connections between artisans, manufacturers, and national and international buyers. “This fair serves as a vital platform, not only to showcase our region’s distinctive textiles but also to create lasting partnerships that will elevate the global presence of J&K’s textile products. Encouraging national and international buyers to actively engage with Jammu & Kashmir’s textile sector, he appealed for expanded market access. He noted that the region’s artisans offer unique, high-quality products that meet the demands of the global market. “We have great opportunities to work together and take our partnerships to new heights. The Textile Sourcing Fair-2024 was organized by the Department of Industries & Commerce, J&K Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO), and the Handloom Export Promotion Council. Hosted at SKUAST Kashmir, the event served as a vibrant platform for Business-to-Business (B2B) meetings, exhibitions, and workshops.
