LG Manoj Sinha chairs 36th University council meeting of SKUAST-Kashmir at Lok Bhavan Srinagar

Srinagar, June 24,2026- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chancellor of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K), chaired the 36th University Council Meeting of the university at Lok Bhavan, Srinagar, on Tuesday.

The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who serves as the Pro-Chancellor of the university, along with senior government officials, academic leaders, and members of the University Council.

During the meeting, the council reviewed key academic, research, administrative, and institutional matters aimed at strengthening agricultural education, innovation, and extension services across Jammu & Kashmir. Discussions focused on enhancing the quality of teaching, promoting research excellence, improving infrastructure, and expanding outreach programmes for farmers and rural communities.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha emphasized the importance of innovation-driven agricultural growth and called for greater integration of technology, scientific research, and entrepreneurship in the agriculture sector. He highlighted the crucial role of SKUAST-K in developing sustainable farming solutions, addressing climate-related challenges, and supporting the socio-economic development of rural areas.

The University Council also assessed the progress of ongoing projects and deliberated on future initiatives to strengthen the university’s contribution to agricultural research, skill development, and farmer welfare. Members discussed measures to improve collaboration between researchers, industry stakeholders, and farming communities to ensure effective transfer of technology and knowledge at the grassroots level.

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of the university and the administration towards transforming Jammu & Kashmir’s agriculture sector through quality education, cutting-edge research, innovation, and effective extension services.

The 36th University Council Meeting concluded with a collective resolve to further strengthen SKUAST-K’s position as a premier institution for agricultural education and research, contributing significantly to sustainable rural development and agricultural prosperity in the Union Territory.
