Jammu, November 27, 2025 — Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has urged scientists, researchers, and artificial intelligence experts to collaborate in building a “cleaner, greener, and healthier” tomorrow. Speaking at the 3rd Aerosol Winter School on “Atmospheric Aerosol, Cloud & Climate Science” at the Central University of Jammu (CUJ), Sinha emphasized the importance of integrating advanced technologies, including AI, into environmental and climate solutions.
Highlighting the growing challenges posed by climate change and environmental degradation, the LG stressed that predictive models powered by AI could play a pivotal role in disaster management, especially in accurately forecasting cloudbursts and extreme weather events. He called for real-time monitoring systems and machine-learning models to provide timely alerts to authorities and communities, potentially saving lives and resources.
“Science and technology must serve society. By working together, we can create solutions that protect the environment, enhance public health, and foster sustainable development,” Sinha said. He further underscored the need for youth engagement, innovation, and cross-disciplinary collaboration in addressing environmental challenges.
During the event, Sinha inaugurated Atmos Kids – The Gen Alpha Change-Makers, a program designed to educate and empower school-age children about atmospheric science, aerosols, air quality, and climate resilience. The initiative is a collaboration between the Himalayan High Altitude Atmospheric and Climate Research Centre, CUJ, and the Indian National Young Academy of Science (INYAS), in association with the Indian National Science Academy (INSA).
Sinha concluded by reiterating the government’s commitment to environmental sustainability and clean energy, highlighting efforts in solar energy, water security, pollution abatement, and rural development. He called upon scientists and AI experts to harness innovation and technology to address climate challenges, ensuring a healthier and more resilient future for the Union Territory and beyond.
