Kashmir Ahead

LG calls for proactive security push, vows total neutralisation of terror ecosystem

Kashmir,December 19,2025-Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday called for a decisive shift from reactive to proactive security strategies in Jammu and Kashmir, stressing that every single terrorist and their supporters must be neutralised to preserve peace and stability in the Union Territory.

Chairing a high-level security review meeting, the Lieutenant Governor said that the significant security gains achieved since 2019 have altered the ground situation in Jammu and Kashmir and must be defended at all costs. He emphasised a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism, including strict action against overground workers, facilitators, and those involved in terror financing.

“The focus must be on prevention rather than reaction. Intelligence-driven operations, inter-agency coordination, and swift action are crucial to staying ahead of terror networks,” the LG said, directing security agencies to further strengthen surveillance and operational preparedness.

Highlighting the improved security environment, the Lieutenant Governor noted a decline in terror incidents and local recruitment, along with the dismantling of terror infrastructure across several districts. However, he cautioned against complacency, warning that hostile elements continue attempts to revive terrorism through infiltration and targeted attacks.

The LG also stressed the need to ensure the safety of civilians, protection of vital installations, and enhanced security in border and hinterland areas. He called for sustained pressure on cross-border terror networks and their local support systems.

Senior officers from the Army, Police, and Central Armed Police Forces briefed the meeting on the prevailing security situation and ongoing counter-terror operations. The Lieutenant Governor reiterated that peace and security are essential for development, economic growth, and public confidence in Jammu and Kashmir.
