Anantnag, September 23,2025: The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Anantnag, recently organized a field day and monitoring visits to evaluate the performance of rice varieties under its ongoing Front Line Demonstration (FLD) and On-Farm Trial (OFT) programs.
During the visits, KVK scientists and officials interacted with local farmers to assess crop growth, provide technical guidance, and demonstrate improved cultivation practices. The initiative aims to enhance yield, productivity, and crop resilience, enabling farmers to adopt high-performing rice varieties suitable for the agro-climatic conditions of the region.
Farmers were briefed on nutrient management, pest and disease control, and water-efficient practices, helping them improve farm productivity and sustainability. The field day also served as a platform for knowledge exchange between researchers and cultivators, promoting modern agricultural techniques.
Officials from KVK-Anantnag said that continuous monitoring and guidance are essential to ensure the success of FLD and OFT programs, which are part of the broader effort to strengthen food security and farmer livelihoods in Jammu and Kashmir.
The program received active participation from local farmers, who expressed optimism that adoption of these improved rice cultivation techniques would boost income and overall agricultural output.
