Kunzer Women Feel Empowered After Joining NRLM | Become Self-Sufficient Income Earners in Kashmir I had joined NRLM in 2018. It has been five years since I joined it. The embroidery work we ladies can do anywhere. Even if girls get married, they can continue with this work. Girls will not be dependent on anyone and can earn their own living. They need not ask anyone for money. In addition, this work will help women tide over any unfortunate events if husbands do not find employment. Also, the work can be taught to others, said NRLM beneficiaries in Kunzer, Jammu & Kashmir. NRLM office is available in every village. We have to see who is the community mobiliser and the office bearers in the district or village. Girls willing to join should contact them and get associated with Self Help Groups. Earlier we did not do any work. Since the formation of SHG we have become self-dependent, said ladies in Kunzer. We purchase cloth from the market and the threads. When the embroidery work is done we send it to the market for selling. We are ten sisters in the group. When money comes we begin the purchase and embroidery all over again. When we started we used to save Rs 1000 monthly. Now are savings has increased to Rs 10,000 for each member. The Banks also provide us loan easily. We are able to pay off the interest easily. This is our message to the ladies to join the nearest NRLM centre. There are also many brothers who want to start their own business. The ladies in their house can associate with NRLM to start their own business. They can join the wives and sisters to do business and move ahead in life like we did, said NRLM beneficiaries in Kunzer.
