Srinagar, January 2,2026 -Kashmir’s tourism sector continues its remarkable revival, with over 23 million tourists visiting Jammu and Kashmir in 2024, reaffirming the region’s status as one of India’s most sought-after travel destinations. The strong momentum has carried into early 2025, with more than 3.5 million tourists already visiting the Kashmir Valley, highlighting sustained growth and renewed confidence among travellers.
Popular destinations such as Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonamarg, Dal Lake, and Srinagar witnessed heavy tourist footfall throughout the year, driven by improved security, enhanced infrastructure, and proactive tourism promotion initiatives by the administration.
Officials attribute this resurgence to peace, stability, and improved law-and-order conditions, which have played a crucial role in restoring Kashmir’s image as the legendary “Heaven on Earth.” Increased air connectivity, better road networks, and a surge in hospitality investments have further boosted tourist confidence.
Local stakeholders, including hoteliers, shikara owners, tour operators, and artisans, say the tourism boom has significantly strengthened livelihoods and created employment opportunities across urban and rural areas. The revival has also positively impacted allied sectors such as handicrafts, transport, and agriculture.
The government has intensified efforts to promote year-round tourism, with a focus on adventure tourism, winter sports, eco-tourism, and border tourism, ensuring balanced development across regions.
As Kashmir continues to attract record numbers of visitors, the surge stands as a testament to the fact that peace is paying dividends, transforming the Valley into a symbol of resilience, revival, and renewed hope.
