Pulwama ,December 12,2025: Kashmir experienced a sharp drop in night temperatures once again, with Pulwama recording the coldest temperature at -5.5°C and Srinagar settling at -3.6°C. Residents across the valley woke up to frosty mornings, with low-lying areas reporting dense fog and icy conditions.
Meteorological officials attributed the sudden dip to clear skies and calm winds, which allowed temperatures to plummet overnight. Several districts, including Kupwara, Ganderbal, and Baramulla, also recorded sub-zero temperatures, intensifying the winter chill.
Authorities have advised citizens, especially the elderly and children, to take precautions against extreme cold and frostbite, and urged motorists to drive carefully on foggy and icy roads. Schools and health departments are keeping a close watch on vulnerable populations to prevent cold-related ailments.
Local residents reported frost on rooftops and cars, with many relying on heaters and warm clothing to combat the biting cold. The meteorological department has forecast continuing cold waves in the coming days, with intermittent night temperatures expected to drop further in the valley.
