Srinagar, December 7,2025-A severe cold wave tightened its grip over the Kashmir Valley as temperatures continued to plunge, with Pahalgam recording the season’s coldest night. The renowned tourist destination in south Kashmir witnessed a sharp drop in minimum temperature, intensifying the winter chill across the region.
According to local weather officials, the mercury in Pahalgam dipped several degrees below freezing, resulting in frost formation and icy roads in higher reaches. Srinagar too experienced a significant fall in night temperatures, adding to residents’ struggle amid biting cold conditions.
The freezing spell has led to early morning fog, reduced visibility in parts of the Valley, and increased demand for heating appliances as households brace for harsher days ahead. Tourist hubs such as Gulmarg, Sonamarg, and other hill belts reported sub-zero temperatures, drawing winter enthusiasts even as the cold wave disrupts routine activities.
Authorities have advised commuters to exercise caution on slippery roads and urged residents to take necessary precautions against cold-related ailments. With weather models predicting further dips in temperature, Kashmir appears set for an extended and intense winter phase.
