Srinagar, January 16,2026-On the directions of the Managing Director, Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM), a series of awareness camps for elderly Self Help Group (SHG) members associated with JKRLM were conducted across the Union Territory.
The programme aimed to sensitise senior citizens about various welfare schemes, entitlements, and support mechanisms being implemented by the Social Welfare Department. Officials informed participants about old-age pensions, social security schemes, healthcare support, and other benefits meant to ensure financial security and dignified living for the elderly.
During the camps, resource persons highlighted the importance of timely registration, documentation, and grievance redressal mechanisms to help senior citizens access government benefits without difficulty. Interactive sessions were also held to address queries raised by elderly SHG members and to guide them on availing benefits at the grassroots level.
JKRLM officials said the initiative reflects the mission’s commitment to inclusive development and social security, ensuring that elderly members of Self Help Groups are well-informed and empowered to claim their rightful entitlements.
The awareness drive is part of JKRLM’s broader efforts to strengthen community institutions and promote the welfare of vulnerable sections of society through convergence with line departments.
