JK Science Congress 2026 Brings Science, Innovation and Emerging Technologies to IUST

 

 

 

The three-day Jammu and Kashmir Science Congress 2026 is bringing together scientists, academicians, researchers, innovators, policymakers, industry representatives and students at IUST, Awantipora, under the theme “Science, Innovations and Emerging Technologies for Sustainable and Viksit J&K.” The Congress features around 500 research papers, nearly 700 participants and 27 technical sessions, with discussions covering emerging fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, quantum science and quantum technologies. The event aims to connect research generated across different institutions with practical solutions to challenges faced by society. Discussions are also focusing on critical issues including disaster resilience, climate change, the economy and resource management. Speakers highlighted the importance of giving students and early-career researchers greater opportunities to explore scientific research, innovation and new technologies. The programme also covers areas such as healthcare, biotechnology, sustainable energy, biodiversity, water management, tourism, food processing and entrepreneurship. A dedicated school students’ programme is intended to encourage scientific curiosity among young learners. At the conclusion of the Congress, recommendations emerging from the discussions are expected to be shared with relevant departments of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, Government of India and other agencies for consideration and implementation.
