Srinagar, November 3,2025: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday organized a ‘Run for Unity’ event at the iconic Ghanta Ghar in Lal Chowk, Srinagar, to commemorate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, celebrated nationwide in honour of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from police personnel, students, athletes, and citizens, all running together to promote the message of national integration, unity, and strength. The rally, flagged off by senior police officials, echoed the spirit of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat,” reinforcing the ideals of togetherness and patriotism.
Speaking on the occasion, a senior J&K Police officer said, “The Run for Unity is not just an event; it’s a tribute to the Iron Man of India, whose vision of a united nation continues to guide us. It reflects the collective resolve of the people of Jammu and Kashmir to uphold peace, unity, and harmony.”
Participants carried national flags and placards highlighting messages of brotherhood and social cohesion. The lively atmosphere at Ghanta Ghar Srinagar turned into a symbol of solidarity, as runners passed through the city’s heritage streets amid cheers and applause.
Citizens and tourists gathered in large numbers to witness the event, praising the J&K Police for organizing such initiatives that strengthen community ties and foster youth engagement through sports and fitness.
The Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) is observed annually across India on October 31 to honour the contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who played a pivotal role in unifying the nation after independence.
The ‘Run for Unity’ concluded with the participants taking the Ekta Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to preserve the integrity and unity of the country.
