Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha recently met with the families of Kashmiri civilians who were brutally killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists. These families, who suffered unimaginable loss, had been marginalised for decades. Their pain was ignored, their stories untold, and the truth surrounding their tragedies deliberately suppressed. Many of them had never been given a platform to speak, and justice had long been denied to them. During the interaction, LG Sinha acknowledged the historical injustice inflicted upon these victims. He noted the disturbing reality that before 2019, terrorists were glorified with funeral processions, while innocent civilians killed by those very terrorists were forgotten, unacknowledged, and treated as collateral. This, he said, is a stain on the collective conscience that the administration is now committed to correcting. The Lieutenant Governor assured the families that the Government of India is determined to bring their voices to the forefront and ensure justice. He affirmed that the era of silence and suppression is over. The families are now coming forward, revealing the truth about Pakistan’s involvement in terrorism and exposing those who supported its agenda within Kashmir. To support the affected families, LG Sinha directed that eligible members who are entitled to government jobs should immediately submit their cases to the concerned Deputy Commissioners. He assured that these appointments would be processed swiftly, with a target of completion within one month. For those interested in starting their own business ventures, he promised financial assistance and full administrative hand-holding to promote self-employment and resilience. In cases where FIRs were never registered due to fear or neglect, LG Sinha stated that clear instructions would be given for prompt registration of those cases. He also announced that strict action would be taken to free the land and property of terror victims’ families that had been illegally encroached upon by terrorist sympathisers or separatist elements. This outreach by the Lieutenant Governor is a powerful step toward justice and healing. It recognises the long-ignored suffering of innocent Kashmiris and aims to restore their dignity through concrete actions. By standing with these families and acknowledging their truths, the administration is sending a strong message—terror will not be glorified, and its victims will never be forgotten again.
