Jammu, April 12, 2025 – Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha paid heartfelt tributes to Army Braveheart Subedar Kuldeep Chand, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty during a counter-infiltration operation in the Keri-Battal area of Sunderbani, Jammu and Kashmir. The solemn gesture underscores the region’s deep respect for its fallen heroes and their unwavering commitment to the nation’s security.
Subedar Kuldeep Chand, a Junior Commissioned Officer of the 9 Punjab Regiment, lost his life on the night of April 11, 2025, while gallantly leading his team to thwart a terrorist infiltration attempt along the Line of Control . His bravery ensured the operation’s success, preventing a breach in one of the region’s critical border areas. The soldier, a resident of Kohlawin village near Galod in Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh, leaves behind his wife, a son, a daughter, and elderly parents.
“I salute the supreme sacrifice of our Army Braveheart Sub Kuldeep Chand who laid down his life in the line of duty. His valour and sacrifice will never be forgotten. The entire nation stands firmly with the family of the martyr in this hour of grief,” said Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha during a wreath-laying ceremony in Jammu. The event was attended by senior officials, military personnel, and local residents, all united in mourning the loss of a courageous soldier.
The incident occurred amid heightened security operations in Jammu and Kashmir, with the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps confirming that Subedar Chand’s actions were pivotal in foiling the infiltration bid. The operation reflects the ongoing challenges along the LoC, where troops remain vigilant against cross-border threats. Subedar Chand’s sacrifice has drawn tributes from across the nation, including from Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, who expressed condolences and pledged support for the bereaved family.
