J&K LG Manoj Sinha Highlights Neglected Challenges of Rural India at National Panchayat Conference

It is true that for a long time in the country there has been disinterest in solving the problems, establishing discipline and making the poor family independent, this could be the main reason for farmers protest and hartal, said the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha in Srinagar at the National Workshop on Localization of Sustainable Development Goals in Gram Panchayats. Ministry of Panchayat Raj, Government of India, in close collaboration with Panchayati Raj & Rural Development Department, Government of Jammu & Kashmir, had organized the National Workshop on Localization of Sustainable Development Goals in Gram Panchayats through Adopting Thematic Approaches on Theme 8: Panchayat with Good Governance during 21-23 August 2023 in Srinagar J&K. We used to hear the slogan of ‘Garibi Hato’ in childhood. You must have heard about slogans to make the villages clean and self-sufficient. Those who were given the right to rule by the people, they were telling the people that you should remove poverty and make villages self-reliant. In Raag Darbari Shrilal Shukla, who was inducted into the IAS had written about the failing values in the post-Independence society. In the seventies he wrote that only lectures are given to the villagers. India is an agricultural country. Progress of villages is progress of the country. Every person who went to give lectures in the villages on behalf of the administration used to harbour the suspicion that the villagers do not plant more food grains. When lectures did not work, the era of advertisements and posters came. The administrators at that time got a hint that India is actually an agricultural country. But farmers are deliberately not producing more food. It has also been said in old advertisements that if you cannot grow food for yourself, then grow food for the country. Such advertisements and lectures continued. But the basic foundation of the Constitution became weak somewhere, LG said at the National Panchayat Confernce.
