Srinagar, February 26, 2026 – The 21st convocation of the University of Kashmir was held today, marked by a distinguished gathering that included the Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan, and presided over by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. The ceremony celebrated the achievements of graduating students and underscored the transformative power of higher education in shaping the nation’s future.

In his address, LG Manoj Sinha highlighted the convocation as a symbol of generational metamorphosis, the fulfillment of aspirations, and the youth’s faith in modern education. He emphasised that ideas nurtured in classrooms should go beyond academic theory to impact the world, urging universities to evolve from traditional knowledge centers into vibrant hubs of innovation, human development, and social transformation.

“My mantra is that industry and intellect should grow together,” Sinha said. He stressed the importance of collaboration between universities, industries, innovators, and research organizations to build a Viksit Bharat and ensure that campuses and companies jointly co-create the future.

Highlighting the power of education, Sinha stated, “Education is the most powerful instrument of change ever placed in human hands. It redirects the course of a life, reshapes the destiny of families, and when embraced by the youth, rewrites the future of a nation from the ground up.”

The Vice President, Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan, reinforced the role of higher education in shaping responsible and socially conscious citizens. He urged students to combine knowledge with character, discipline, and integrity to contribute meaningfully to society.

The convocation witnessed the conferment of degrees to students across undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs, reflecting the university’s dedication to academic excellence, research, and innovation. The event also served as a reminder that higher education is a critical driver for youth empowerment, nation-building, and social transformation.
