It is a great privilege for me to participate in the 6th annual function of Gurha Slathia at Samba and in the field of Guidance and Counseling Self for Youth Development, said the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha. I am very happy that the youth energy is being channelised into positive activities like empowering women, mass campaign against drug abuse, coaching, skill development, entrepreneurship, etc. GCC has carried out many such works with full dedication and devotion. It has established an inspiring tradition that can guide other youth institutions and organisations in the country. Yaksha asked Yudhishthira what was the surprise? Yudhishthira replied that there can be no greater surprise than a man seeing another man dying and yet still wishes to live. If Yaksh asks me why I am surprised, I will say that such a youth organisation is working in this village of Samba which has contributed a lot in changing the fate and picture of this place. No other contribution can be bigger than this. It started in 2019. You all have taken a wonderful initiative to help the youth face the basic challenges of life and become responsible citizens. You gave wings to the aspirations of youth. The great Dogri poetess Padma Sachdeva expressed the aspirations of a common man by writing, “My wings are small and my flight is very high, now how can I touch the sky?” I can say that Gurha Slathiya has created a means through GCC for the youth to touch the sky. In all the areas of education, skill development, defense classes, competitive exams preparations, interview preparation, sports activities, leadership and personality development, the initiatives you have taken in all these areas are definitely a step towards fulfilling the dreams of the youth. A big change has taken place in India in the last ten to twelve years. Today, India is a superpower in the field of innovation. Today, we have the third largest startup ecosystem in the world. In the last ten years, from eleventh position we have reached the fifth position of being the major economy in the world leaving behind Britain in the sixth position, the country which ruled us for many years. India has the largest base of mobile phone users. India has an internet-connected population of 627 million nearly twice the entire US population. Today 90 percent of India is covered by 5G. A street vendor’s daughter came and said to me, I have become a Kashmir Administrative Officer, this day was witnessed in the last four-five years in Jammu and Kashmir, said the Lieutenant Governor. Around 70 percent of the population here is engaged in agriculture and allied activities such as dairy, fisheries, sericulture, horticulture etc. Friends who have been to Kashmir, many crops are grown there, mustard was not grown there. In the last two years it seems there has been a mustard revolution in the whole Valley. And another benefit that has come from mustard production has also proven beneficial in honey and beekeeping. An American President says that America is rich because its roads are good. Today, tunnel and highway projects worth one and a half lakh crores are being built in Jammu and Kashmir, out of which work worth seventy-six thousand crores is being done only in the Jammu region. All the villages in Jammu and Kashmir are connected under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. Under the guidance of the Prime Minister, many things have happened which we could not even imagine and because of that I can say that a new vision has emerged among the youth population for a vibrant Jammu and Kashmir, along with new direction, new challenges and new solutions, our youth have the ability to assess the aspirations of the people. When Neil Armstrong went to the moon, a journalist asked him what he had to say. He said that the word impossible should be removed from the dictionary forever.
