Srinagar, September 13, 2025 – The vibrant Jashn-e-Dal Festival kicked off today at the iconic Dal Lake in Srinagar, drawing crowds of sports enthusiasts, locals, and tourists alike. Organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, this annual three-day water sports extravaganza aims to celebrate the region’s natural beauty while fostering youth engagement and boosting tourism in the Kashmir Valley.
A Splash of Adventure on Dal Lake
The festival, which runs from September 13 to 15, features over 20 disciplines of water sports, including kayaking, canoeing, rowing, and paddleboarding. Around 700 athletes from across Jammu and Kashmir and beyond are participating, showcasing their skills against the picturesque backdrop of the “Lake of Flowers.” The event not only highlights athletic prowess but also promotes community bonding, with families and visitors enjoying boat rides, live demonstrations, and cultural performances along the lake’s shores.J&K Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Anand Jain inaugurated the festival, emphasizing its role in bridging the gap between the police and the public. “Jashn-e-Dal is our annual event organized to engage our youth,” Jain stated during the opening ceremony. “It inspires young talents towards sports and healthy activities, creating a positive environment in the valley.” He further announced that Srinagar will host the All India Judo Championship in October, expecting 3,000 athletes, underscoring the city’s growing stature as a sports hub.
