Srinagar, December 12,2025 : The Union Government has approved a Rs 6,900 crore allocation to strengthen the power sector in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, marking a significant step toward enhancing electricity infrastructure and ensuring reliable power supply across the two regions.
The funding is expected to be utilised for upgrading transmission and distribution networks, modernising substations, and supporting renewable energy projects. Officials stated that the initiative aims to reduce power losses, improve grid stability, and provide uninterrupted electricity to both urban and remote areas.
This investment aligns with the government’s broader vision of boosting infrastructure, promoting sustainable energy, and ensuring energy security in the Union Territories. Residents and industrial units are expected to benefit from enhanced power reliability, which will also support economic growth and development in the region.
