Rajouri, December 27,2025: The Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP), Rajouri, implemented in Block Doongi, has won the prestigious Watershed Janbhagidari Cup along with a ₹20 lakh cash award for exemplary community participation and sustainable watershed development.
The achievement marks a major milestone for Rajouri district, reflecting the strong involvement of local communities in planning and execution of watershed activities. Officials said the programme demonstrated best practices in soil and water conservation, livelihood enhancement, and long-term environmental sustainability through active public participation.
The award recognises collective efforts in promoting sustainable land and water management, improving agricultural productivity, and strengthening resilience against climate variability. District officials and implementing teams were lauded for mobilising community ownership, which played a key role in the success of the programme.
The recognition is expected to further motivate stakeholders and communities in Rajouri to adopt sustainable watershed practices and contribute to inclusive rural development.
