Baramulla, December 18,2025 –At just nine years old, Burhan Malik from Baramulla was battling a critical heart condition that threatened his life, with his family unable to afford advanced medical treatment. As hope began to fade, the Indian Army stepped in, turning a story of despair into one of survival and gratitude.
Under Operation Sadbhavna, pediatric cardiologists of the Indian Army carried out a rare and high-risk transcatheter cardiac procedure on Burhan, successfully removing two life-threatening aortic blockages. The complex, minimally invasive intervention is seldom performed on children of such a young age and required exceptional medical expertise and precision.
The surgery proved successful, and Burhan made a steady recovery under close medical supervision. Today, he is back home in Baramulla, healthy, active, and smiling — a living testament to timely medical intervention and compassionate outreach.
Deeply inspired by the care and courage of the soldiers and doctors who saved his life, young Burhan now nurtures a heartfelt dream: to join the Indian Army one day, the very force that gave him a second chance at life.
The operation once again highlights the Indian Army’s humanitarian role in Jammu and Kashmir, where Operation Sadbhavna continues to bridge critical gaps in healthcare, education, and social welfare, especially for underprivileged families.
