The first Vedic Conference in Jammu, themed “Vedon Mein Vigyan”, was inaugurated at the Shri Ranbir Campus of the Central Sanskrit University, Kot Bhalwal. The event, organised by Vigyan Bharati in collaboration with the Central Sanskrit University, brought together scholars, educators, and students to explore the rich scientific knowledge embedded in India’s Vedic texts. LG Shri Manoj Sinha, who graced the occasion as the chief guest, highlighted the profound contributions of the Vedic period to human civilisation, particularly in the fields of science, mathematics, astronomy, and medicine. In his keynote address, he celebrated the Vedas as the earliest and most complete scientific knowledge system known to humanity. He emphasised that the Vedic scriptures not only offer spiritual insights but also contain advanced scientific principles that have shaped Indian society and influenced global knowledge traditions for millennia. “India has long been a powerhouse of both science and spirituality,” he stated. “When the Vedas were composed, India was the epicenter of the world’s economy, education, culture, and philosophy, laying the foundation of socio-economic progress through disciplines such as science, mathematics, astronomy, and medicine.” He also pointed out the remarkable resurgence of India’s global standing under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, who has inspired a nationwide reawakening of pride in the nation’s ancient heritage. “Under the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s leadership, India is not only emerging as a new economic power, but also reclaiming the respect and recognition once enjoyed during the Vedic era,” said the LG. He lauded the Prime Minister’s clarion call to shed the remnants of colonial history and regain India’s rightful place as a global leader. He stressed the importance of integrating the vast body of ancient knowledge found in the Vedas with modern scientific advancements. He underscored the need to harness India’s traditional wisdom in areas such as medicine, mathematics, botany, and the arts, to build a knowledge-driven economy. “We must not be bound by the past,” he noted, “but use the values and ideals of the ancient world to confront future challenges and lead humanity toward progress.” He further urged educational institutions, social organisations, and individuals to play an active role in reconnecting the youth with India’s cultural roots. He expressed confidence that the Vedic Conference would help forge new pathways for enhancing the teaching and learning of India’s ancient knowledge systems, thereby enriching the modern educational landscape. In addition to his address, he unveiled an idol of Goddess Saraswati, the symbol of wisdom, in the university’s premises and released several publications that document the ongoing research on the scientific aspects of the Vedas. The conference aimed to further the understanding and appreciation of the scientific knowledge embedded in Vedic literature and explore how these ancient insights can contribute to addressing contemporary challenges. With its emphasis on research, collaboration, and knowledge exchange, the event served as an important step in reviving India’s glorious intellectual heritage and reaffirming its leadership in the global scientific community. The Vedic Conference in Jammu served as a significant platform to reaffirm the importance of India’s ancient knowledge systems. LG Shri Manoj Sinha’s address underscored the critical role of science in the Vedic tradition, illustrating how these timeless principles continue to inspire progress and innovation today. As India continues to embrace its rich scientific and spiritual legacy, it is poised to become a global leader in shaping the future of knowledge and technology.
