Kashmir, January 7,2026-Participants of the 14-day Integrated Ski Training Course held at Gulmarg have expressed happiness and appreciation for the Tourism Department and the Jammu & Kashmir administration for their sustained efforts in promoting winter sports and nurturing young talent in the region.
The trainees said the programme provided them with professional exposure, technical skills, and confidence to pursue skiing as a sport and career. They praised the quality of training, infrastructure, and support extended by the authorities, terming the initiative a major step towards strengthening Kashmir’s winter sports ecosystem.
Officials said such training courses aim to identify and groom local talent while positioning Gulmarg—already renowned for its natural slopes and snow quality—as a premier destination for winter sports in India. The initiative also aligns with efforts to boost tourism, create livelihood opportunities, and encourage youth participation in sports.
Participants noted that peace and stability are playing a crucial role in reviving sports and tourism activities across the Valley. They expressed hope that sustained peace and administrative support would pave the way for a brighter future for Kashmir’s youth.
With growing participation and structured training programmes, Kashmir is steadily emerging as a major winter sports hub of the country, reinforcing the link between peace, development, and sporting excellence in the region.
