Baramulla, December 21,2025:The famous hill resort of Gulmarg in Baramulla district witnessed fresh snowfall on Thursday, covering the landscape in a thick white blanket and marking a renewed spell of winter in the region.
The snowfall enhanced the scenic beauty of Gulmarg, transforming meadows, pine forests, and rooftops into a picturesque winter wonderland. The fresh snow has brought cheer among tourists and locals alike, with visitors thronging the area to enjoy the season’s first major snow experience.
Officials said the snowfall is likely to boost winter tourism, especially activities such as skiing, snowboarding, and cable car rides at the Gulmarg Gondola, one of the highest cable car projects in the world.
However, the fresh snowfall also led to a drop in temperatures across north Kashmir, with cold wave conditions intensifying in higher reaches. Authorities have advised commuters and tourists to remain cautious, as slippery roads and reduced visibility may affect movement in and around Gulmarg.
Local hoteliers and tourism stakeholders welcomed the snowfall, expressing optimism that the winter season will witness a strong tourist turnout in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has forecast further spells of light snow and rain in higher reaches of Kashmir, urging people to stay updated with weather advisories.
