Jammu, December16,2025:In a significant step towards making Jammu a cleaner and plastic-free city, the Jammu Municipal Corporation has launched the Green Campus Campaign, targeting educational institutions to promote sustainable environmental practices.
Speaking in an interview with DD News Jammu, Municipal Commissioner Devansh Yadav said that 64 schools and colleges across the city have enrolled in the initiative so far. Out of these, 55 institutions have already been successfully transformed into green campuses, adopting eco-friendly measures and reducing the use of single-use plastics.
The campaign places strong emphasis on student awareness and participation, focusing on the use of proper sanitation facilities, segregation of waste at source, and composting of wet waste within campuses. Through regular awareness drives, workshops, and monitoring, students are being encouraged to develop long-term habits that support environmental sustainability.
Officials said the Green Campus Campaign not only aims to keep educational institutions clean but also seeks to create environmentally responsible citizens who can act as change-makers in their communities.
The Jammu Municipal Corporation plans to expand the campaign further in the coming months, with more institutions expected to join the initiative, strengthening Jammu’s push towards a clean, green, and plastic-free future.
