Grand welcome for Indian Boxers after historic medal haul at World Boxing Championship 2025

New Delhi, September 17, 2025: Indian boxing stars returned home to a hero’s welcome after scripting history at the World Boxing Championship 2025 in Liverpool. Fans, families, and sports officials thronged the airport with tricolour flags, garlands, and loud cheers to celebrate the nation’s biggest-ever medal haul at the global event.

India’s pugilists delivered a remarkable performance, finishing with 2 Gold, 1 Silver, and 1 Bronze medal, a feat that has further cemented the country’s rising dominance in world boxing. The gold medal winners were given special honours, while the silver and bronze medallists too received massive applause for their grit and determination.

Union Sports Minister, along with senior officials from the Boxing Federation of India (BFI), felicitated the champions and assured continued support for boxing infrastructure, training, and exposure.

Speaking to the media, one of the gold medallists said, “This victory is for India. The support from fans back home pushed us to fight harder in Liverpool. We are now aiming for even bigger achievements, including the upcoming Asian and Olympic Games.”

The celebrations reflect not just a sporting triumph but also the growing popularity of boxing in India. With the medal tally of 2 Gold, 1 Silver, and 1 Bronze, India has achieved its best-ever performance at a World Boxing Championship, placing the nation among the top contenders in the sport.
