Gandhi Jayanti 2023: Div Com Jammu flags-in Shanti Yatra at Jammu- the final destination of inspirational voyage

JAMMU, OCTOBER 02: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, on Monday welcomed the Shanti Yatra to Jammu district, a commemorative expedition organized by the Directorate of School Education Jammu to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary.
The Shanti Yatra, which traversed through the Jammu Division, spreading the principles of Gandhian philosophy, today reached its final destination Jammu. The grand reception took place at Padma Shri Sachdev Government PG College for Women Gandhinagar, where a splendid function was held to honour the winners of various competitions and the enthusiastic participants of the Yatra.
As part of the Gandhi Jayanti celebrations, the Director of School Education Jammu shared that numerous competitions were conducted in schools and colleges across the Jammu division, including quizzes, painting, debates, essay writing, symposiums and more, spanning all districts. Furthermore, it was informed that the Shanti Yatra embarked on its journey from Poonch and arrived at Jammu after covering all the districts of the Jammu division.
Notably, 30100 students and 2234 teachers actively participated in the Yatra which involved 1254 schools. Shanti Yatra moved with great glory and honour receiving a warm welcome from administrators and commoners throughout the Jammu Division.
On the occasion, Students of Higher Education Department and School Education Department presented a splendid cultural programme depicting life history of Gandhi Ji.
The UT level programme on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti was held at the SKICC Srinagar, which was watched online by the staff of Directorate of School Education Jammu and Higher Education, teachers, students and the dignitaries present in the function. More over this program was also live relayed in schools and colleges of Jammu Province
On this auspicious occasion, Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar and other esteemed dignitaries felicitated the students who presented cultural items and to the winners and runners up of the Divisional Level Symposium competition on the theme Truth and Non violence held both at school and college level.
The event witnessed the presence of Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Sachin Kumar Vaishya; Director School Education, Ashok Sharma; JKBOSE Chairman, Parikshit Manhas ,Special Secretary school Education Kanta Rakwal, senior advisor of Gandhi Global family, Retd. Lt. General Rakesh Kumar, Dr. S.P Saraswat Parade College Jammu. Meenu Mahajan Principal of Women’s College Gandhi Nagar; Joint Director School Education, Subah Mehta; in addition to several professors, teachers, and a large assembly of students.
