Srinagar, January 16,2026- Kashmir witnessed fresh snowfall in its higher reaches over the past 24 hours, transforming the region into a winter wonderland and delighting locals and tourists alike. Areas including Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonamarg, and Banihal reported significant snow accumulation, while temperatures dropped well below the seasonal average.
The fresh snow has created picturesque landscapes, attracting nature lovers and photographers to capture the pristine beauty of Kashmir’s snow-covered mountains. Authorities have advised residents and travellers to exercise caution while traveling on mountain roads and high-altitude areas, as slippery conditions and low visibility may pose challenges.
Weather experts have forecast continuing cold conditions in Kashmir, with intermittent snowfall expected in the coming days. This snowfall not only enhances tourism opportunities in winter destinations like Gulmarg and Pahalgam but also replenishes water reservoirs, benefiting agriculture and horticulture in the region.
