KATHUA, March 30,2026- The Floriculture Department today organized a training and awareness programme for farmers in Kathua under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture, aiming to promote floriculture as a viable source of income and employment in the region.
The programme witnessed active participation from farmers, youth, and women from nearby areas, who were sensitized about modern floriculture practices, government support schemes, and income-generation opportunities in the sector.
Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma, who attended the event, encouraged youth and farmers to take full advantage of government initiatives like MIDH to diversify their agricultural activities and enhance their livelihoods. He emphasized that floriculture holds immense potential for boosting income and creating sustainable employment.
Experts from the department provided practical insights into flower cultivation, nursery management, and market linkages, while also highlighting financial assistance and subsidies available under various schemes.
A notable feature of the programme was the enthusiastic participation of women farmers, whose involvement was widely appreciated by the officials. Their engagement reflects a growing trend of women-led initiatives in agriculture and allied sectors.
