Floriculture being given a boost in RS Pora to tap Rs 20 crore market catering to city of temples

We are happy that we are here at RS Pora border in Jammu and Kashmir which was once famous for Basmati rice. With the efforts of the Lieutenant Governor, Shri Manoj Sinha, floriculture is reaching villages, said Tejinder Singh Kisan Board Member. Tejinder said that a special variety of marigold flowers has come from Thailand for the floriculturists in Kashmir. It has a different colour from the usual. The floriculture passion is being given a boost as Jammu is a city of temples. We have put in a lot of efforts that floriculture catches on in Jammu and Kashmir. And we are seeing it in Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Udhampur and a big cluster has been formed in Doda. We want to tap the Rs 20 crore market catering to the city of temples. Tejinder, Kisan Board Member said that the people of RS Pura are highly thankful to Member of Parliament Dr Jitendra Singh and Atul Duloo because of their efforts today floriculture has reached villages. They have given us full support that you come here and promote floriculture. We are thankful to LG Manoj Sinha. He gave a slogan ‘Vocal For Local’ and facilitated flower bulb production to tap the flower market and he has given good guidelines and it got good results. He has also supported us in promoting floriculture, said Tejinder, Member of Kisan Board. In the coming days we would want the floriculture sector to progress so that people associated with it can benefit more. We want to tap every potential, Tejinder added. The locals involved in floriculture said that the imported flowers had more beauty and were free from disease while the prevalent variety was infected with fungicide.
