Udhampur, December 22,2025: A 2–4 kg stone has been spotted floating near Salmay Bridge on the River Tawi, leaving locals and devotees amazed. The unusual sight has quickly caught public attention, with many calling it divine and drawing parallels with the legendary Ram Setu.
Devotees visiting the site believe the floating stone is a miraculous sign, reinforcing faith and spiritual sentiments in the region. Social media has seen a surge in photos and videos of the stone, with hashtags like #RamSetu trending among enthusiasts and believers.
Experts, however, provide a scientific explanation. Geologists suggest the stone could be pumice, a type of volcanic rock that can float due to trapped air bubbles within its structure. “Floating stones are rare but not impossible. Pumice stones can naturally float on water for some time,” explained a local geology expert.
This unique phenomenon highlights the intersection of faith and science, as curiosity, devotion, and local folklore merge on the banks of the River Tawi. Residents and tourists continue to visit Salmay Bridge, capturing the floating stone and sharing their experiences online.
