DM Ramban chairs NCORD meeting

RAMBAN, NOVEMBER 18: Reiterating District Administration’s resolve of zero tolerance policy against perpetrators of drug abuse, District Magistrate, Ramban, Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary today asked the stakeholder departments step up the campaign at all levels to curb this menace in the district.
The DM was chairing the District-level NARCO Coordination Committee (NCORD) meeting in his office chambers.
The DM underlined the need to carry out sustained activities under Nasha Mukt Abhiyan in the educational institutions, while directing the CEO to peddle up the campaign to spread awareness among the students. “All the stakeholder departments should also intensify the drive on mission mode to make panchayats Nasha Mukt across the district”, he added.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Harbans Sharma; ACR, Giasul Haq; ACD, Ashok Katoch; SDM Banihal, Zaheer Abass; SDM Ramsoo, Ghanysham Basotra; CEO, Dev Anand; Dy. SP, Waqar Bhatt, CMO Dr. Kamal Zadoo, Tehsildars, and Drug Inspector attended the meeting.
Tehsildars and Block Level Committees were asked to keep vigil on the cultivation of illegal crops like cannabis and poppy. He also directed the CMO to further equip drug de-addiction/rehabilitation centres at District Hospital Ramban.
Reviewing the measures taken by the enforcement agencies to curb the drug abuse and narcotics traffic in the district, the District Magistrate directed them to conduct regular meetings with the Sarpanches and PRIs to implement all the directions of NCORD in letter and spirit.
The District Magistrate directed the ADC to monitor progress of Tehsildars on their achievements for declaring panchayats Nasha Mukt in their respective tehsils.
The SDMs were asked to ensure strict implementation of NARCO guidelines, besides imposing crackdown on smoking and sale of tobacco products in the periphery of educational and health institutions, besides public places in their respective jurisdictions.
The Police Department was asked to share information pertaining to drug hotspots to target the same for making Panchayats Nasha Mukt across the district.
The Assistant Controller Drugs and Drug Inspector was directed to inspect chemist shops and ensure installation of CCTV cameras and other equipment as per Standard Operating Procedures and to keep check on sale of banned drugs.
