Baramulla, September 09,2025: On the eve of International Literacy Day 2025, Worthy Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa (IAS), flagged off a mega students rally from BHSS Baramulla under the banner of ULLAS – Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram (NBSK). The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, and community members, showcasing a collective commitment to promote literacy and lifelong learning.
Schools across the district marked the day with pledge-taking ceremonies, certificate distribution to neoliterates, and community literacy talks aimed at spreading awareness about the importance of education. The initiative also highlighted the government’s efforts to empower communities through the National Literacy Mission and the Education for All campaign.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Baramulla appreciated the efforts of the Education Department and urged all stakeholders to strengthen the literacy movement. He emphasised that literacy is not just about reading and writing, but also about empowering individuals to lead informed and productive lives.
