SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 21: The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal today inaugurated two days Capacity Building Programme (CBP) on promotion of Oilseeds crops at Harwan Srinagar.
In his address to the participants, Director Agriculture highlighted the importance of Oilseed (mustard) crops in the rural economy of the region. He said that from the last few years the department is working on a comprehensive plan to bring newer areas under the cultivation of oilseed (Mustard). He said that under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) a special project has been approved for the promotion of Oilseeds (Mustard).
Director Agriculture asked the farmers to adopt an organic way of cultivation for more and more Agriculture crops. He impressed upon the concerned officers to increase awareness among the farmers regarding the adverse impact of chemical fertilizers on the soil health.
Iqbal underscored the importance of the Skilled farming community and said that in coming times the skilled farming community would play a pivotal role in the success story of the agriculture sector. He reiterated the department’s commitment to the Capacity building of the farmers. He said that it is a continuous process and will go on.
Besides a large number of participants, Chief Agriculture Officer Srinagar, senior officers of the department were present on the occasion.
