Deputy CM emphasises visionary role of Guru Ravi Dass in societal renaissance

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 12: Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Choudhary, lauded the transformative impact of Shree Guru Ravi Dass Ji on socio-economic progress, urging society to embrace his teachings for the creation of a more egalitarian and humane world. The Deputy Chief Minister made these remarks during the 648th Prakash Utsav celebration of Guru Ravi Dass Ji at Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, Krishna Nagar, Jammu.

Addressing the gathering, Choudhary emphasised that in today’s world, where material pursuits often disrupt societal harmony, it is crucial to follow the spiritual guidance of Saints and Seers. “In this era of materialism, we must turn to the teachings of our Saints and Sufis, which guide us toward a more spiritual and fulfilling life, leading to contentment and inner peace,” he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister further highlighted the enduring legacy of Guru Ravi Dass Ji, stressing his pivotal role in shaping a society founded on humane values. “The people of this subcontinent are well aware of Guru Ravi Dass Ji’s contributions to building a society based on compassion and equality. These teachings must be propagated for the betterment of humanity and to make our world more inclusive,” he added.

Choudhary also appealed to the youth to embrace the spiritual wisdom of great saints and avoid falling prey to harmful influences. He expressed concern over the growing problem of substance abuse, vowing to take stringent measures to combat this social evil.

Earlier, the Deputy Chief Minister paid his respects at the Ashram, praying for the peace and prosperity of the nation, with a special focus on Jammu and Kashmir. He also interacted with the devotees, offering his blessings.

During the event, the Management of the All Jammu and Kashmir Shree Guru Ravi Dass Sabha presented a memorandum to the Deputy Chief Minister, highlighting several issues, including the proper implementation of reservation for SC/STs in employment, the SC/ST Atrocities Act, and other related demands.

In addition, a deputation consisting of former BDCs, Sarpanchs, and Panchs met with the Deputy Chief Minister to raise developmental concerns from their respective areas. Choudhary assured them that their issues would be looked into and addressed promptly.
