Poonch, April 12, 2025 – District Development Commissioner Poonch, Vikas Kundal, chaired a meeting to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the physical and financial progress of projects under the NABARD Rural Infrastructure Development Fund . The review underscores ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure development in underserved areas of Poonch, aiming to improve connectivity, water supply, and other essential services for rural communities.
The meeting focused on evaluating the status of various RIDF projects, including roads, bridges, and irrigation schemes, funded by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development . Vikas Kundal emphasised the importance of timely completion and quality execution to ensure maximum benefits for residents in remote areas. “Our goal is to strengthen rural infrastructure and uplift the quality of life in Poonch’s underserved regions,” he stated, highlighting the district’s commitment to sustainable development.
Officials from relevant departments provided detailed updates on project milestones, expenditures, and challenges. The DDC directed them to adhere to timelines, address bottlenecks promptly, and submit regular progress reports to NABARD for transparency. This review builds on earlier inspections, such as the assessment of motorable bridges in Sanai village, reflecting a consistent push for rural connectivity and accessibility.
The NABARD RIDF initiative plays a critical role in supporting J&K’s rural economy by financing projects that bridge infrastructure gaps. Poonch, a border district, stands to gain significantly from these efforts, which align with broader goals of regional development and inclusive growth. The meeting concluded with a renewed focus on accelerating project implementation to meet community needs effectively.
