DDC Anantnag appreciative of mass participation highlighting the importance of village Block Diwas

District Development Commissioner Anantnag S F Hamid presided over the Block Diwas event held at Checkiwangund in Hiller village and appreciated the mass participation and positive response of the people, which he said highlights the importance of Block Diwas. All the works be it sewerage plant, multi-storey parking or clock tower is progressing well and have great economic potential, said DDC Anantnag. When the traffic jam will not be there and parking facilities will be available then sales will happen more. And the whole town will progress. DDC Anantnag congratulated the chairman of the Urban Local Bodies head. The event was attended by members of the Hiller block, PRIs and the general public. They shared their suggestions and demands related to various schemes for the development of the area. DDC assured the gathering that the district administration is committed to addressing the issues of the general public. The active participation of the people is required in activities like creating awareness on drugs and cleanliness. Public cooperation is required in not throwing garbage on the roads or in open drains, only then a scheme can be successful. Besides, garbage segregation is required at people’s end only then a machinery can work. The DDC gave on-the-spot directions to concerned departments for the redressal of issues raised during the event. The drug issue is not just the responsibility of the administration but a responsibility of the society as well. The Block Diwas turned into an interactive and participatory event and the DDC thanked the people of Anantnag for their participation. At the event he also discussed with the Urban Local Bodies and elected representatives on how to progress further efficiently and take up the issues discussed so that every household in Anantnag is aware of their social responsibilities.
