KUPWARA, NOVEMBER 28: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan, chaired a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee today to review the implementation of traffic regulations and enforcement measures across the district.
During the meeting, the DC emphasized the need for stricter enforcement of traffic laws to prevent accidents and safeguard lives. She expressed concern over the rising number of traffic-related incidents and instructed officers to take strict action against violators, particularly those engaged in underage driving, rash driving, and overloading.
The DC directed the Police and Traffic Departments to conduct joint special drives targeting traffic violations, with a special focus on underage driving. She also called for heightened vigilance on hilly roads, where safety measures often go unchecked due to a shortage of traffic personnel.

She specifically directed the ARTO to organize awareness programs in schools and colleges to educate young people about traffic rules and road safety.
The meeting also addressed infrastructure concerns, with the SE of R&B Department instructed to improve road curves, especially in accident-prone areas on hilly roads.
