Three Jammu mountaineers scale Mount Yunam, bring glory to J&K

3Jammu, June 22,2026- In a remarkable feat of endurance, determination, and adventure, three mountaineers from Jammu successfully scaled Mount Yunam, one of the most challenging peaks in the Indian Himalayas, bringing pride and recognition to Jammu and Kashmir’s growing mountaineering community.

Standing at an elevation of approximately 6,111 metres (20,049 feet) above sea level in Himachal Pradesh’s Lahaul-Spiti region, Mount Yunam is known for its rugged terrain, harsh weather conditions, and low oxygen levels, making it a demanding climb even for experienced mountaineers.

The three climbers completed the expedition after days of rigorous trekking, acclimatization, and high-altitude ascent. Battling freezing temperatures, strong winds, and challenging mountain conditions, the team displayed exceptional resilience and teamwork to reach the summit.

Upon reaching the peak, the mountaineers unfurled the Indian Tricolour and celebrated their achievement against the backdrop of the majestic Himalayan ranges.
